Safety Compliance Program Manager

Working with an Excellent Client that is looking to hire a Safety Compliance Program Manager in Lusby, MD.
This is a direct hire role with a starting salary of $120k-$150k yr.
This role is 25% travel and the rest is on-site.
Responsibilities:
Ensures safety work methods through the established and implementation of plant training programs and clear policies and procedures rooted in Human Performances principles.
Ensures all policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulatory agencies and company requirements in coordination with the Corporate Safety Team.
This includes health and safety procedures and operational procedures.
Maintains an understanding and involvement in the investigation of safety related events (e.
g.
, incidents or near misses) through field investigations and team root cause analyses.
Keeps Safety and Operations leadership updated on industry safety and health changes and trends.
Perform studies and investigations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and health laws, standards, and regulations including those relating to industrial hygiene and public safety.
Identifies and evaluates potential workplace hazards and takes appropriate action to reduce or eliminate unsafe conditions.
Investigates accidents and incidents and promotes safety-conscious work performance by continuous emphasis of Human Performance principles.
Interprets and communicates safety-related work methods and compliance requirements through individual, classroom, and field training and coaching.
Subject matter expert for OSHA compliance requirements such as:
industrial hygiene (e.
g.
, benzene, hexavalent chromium, etc.
), noise monitoring, lead and asbestos abatement, fire prevention and control, first aid and accident prevention, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and confined space management.
Subject matter expert for NFPA and other relevant industry standards, especially relating to fire prevention systems, fire brigade management, and all associated training, testing, preparedness assurance, and compliance reporting/record management.
Subject matter expert for telematics systems and the Smith System for driver safety.
Maintains Human Performance observation, incident tracking, vehicle driving performance, and other databases on a frequent basis.
Requirements:
Significant directly related experience is required (typically 7/8
years).
Demonstrates full knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and company policies and requirements.
Strong working knowledge of plant safety programs, fire protection, work methods and training to ensure and promote a safety conscious workforce.
Skilled in the interpretation and application of federal and state safety regulations.
Skilled communicator, ability to effectively communicate with state and federal officials, management and staff.
Proven ability to effectively evaluate and identify workplace hazards or safety violations.
Ability to determine the course of action required to eliminate workplace safety hazards and ensure federal and state compliance.
Ability to effectively direct and oversee safety studies and investigations.
Demonstrated leadership skills required.
Previous work experience, demonstrating full knowledge and application of federal and state safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
